 The UAE and the People's Republic of China have signed MoU on collaborative working on the field of Railway Industry on the 18th May 2010.
The MoU was signed by His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Public Works and Chairman of the National Transport Authority (NTA), and on the Chinese side, the MOU was signed by His Excellency Liu Zhijun , Minister of Railways.


The MoU signing ceremony was attended by HE Dr. Nasser Saif AL Mansoori, the Director General of the NTA and the Chinese ambassador to the UAE, HE Gao Yi Sheng.
The scope of the MoU covered various aspects of the Railway Industry including Safety, Regulations, Standards, Railway Training, Railway Research and Development, Railway Technology Transfer, and regular joint meetings and exchange of working visits between the two sides.  The MoU also emphasised the willingness of the two sides to bring benefits to the UAE and help its Railway industry to grow and flourish.


HE Dr. Nasser Saif AL Mansoori, NTA Director General, welcomed the signing of the MoU and stated that " the MoU will help our Country to have access to a wider range of railway technology, management practices and will also create more choices.  This is necessary to enable us to have effective benchmarking of our emerging Railway Industry against the best in the world so that we may be able to bring the desired benefits to our country". 

 
The NTA has a long-term strategy for building collaborative working relationships with  International Governments Railway Authorities and International Railway Industry institutions.  The NTA aims to build a long-lasting Railway Industry for the UAE.


It should be noted that the NTA is the Federal Government Authority that is responsible for all aspects of the UAE Land Transport and Maritime Sectors, and it is the regulator for Rail, Road and Maritime Transport.
