NTA Holds Workshop to Discuss Reports & Recommendations Pertinent to Federal Roads’ Performance and Quality with Strategic Partners Print E-mail

Transport consultancy TRL was commissioned to draft up reports and recommendations pertinent to road performance and quality in the UAE, and firm representatives discussed a primary draft of the report during the workshop to obtain insight from competent strategic partners.  
The objective of the aforementioned report is to accomplish a host of targets, including: determining national criteria for road and transport classification throughout the UAE, via joint collaboration between the Committee and concerned parties. The report also aims to strengthen coordination with competent local authorities charged with urban planning—which has an impact on road and transport networks—as well as checking local and federal roads’ compatibility with federal safety standards and specifications.
Moreover, the report targets drafting proposals necessary for road and transport construction and development, and assessing the overall condition of Federal roads and reaching conclusions regarding the degree of commitment to national and international standards and practices. In addition, the report makes way for expressing viewpoints relevant to draft legislations and bylaws proposed by the NTA that fall within the Committee’s realm of responsibilities.      
Finally, to promote cooperation and exchange of information with local and federal agencies en route to compiling an annual report gauging the condition and performance levels of federal roads in the UAE. This yearly report would then be presented to participant parties to give observations and curtail overlapping jurisdictions and contradicting information. Furthermore, the report discusses the introduction of key performance indicators regulating road efficiency, including customer satisfaction, road safety performance and quality and reliability of data relating to automobile accidents and traffic conditions, alongside performance of highway infrastructure
