NTA organizes workshops on collective and specialized transport systems in the UAE (18-19 June 2012) Print E-mail

As part of coordination and communication with strategic partners to achieve desired objectives, NTA has organized two workshops on Monday, 18th June, to discuss mass transit systems and Tuesday, 19th June, to handle tourist and pilgrim transport. During the workshop, the primary prospective of a number of main activities will be discussed including: development of federal policies and legislations on mass transit and specialized transport, and the driver training guide’s accomplishments for the requirements of specialized and mass transit.

It will also handle the federal policies and legislation on different transport systems such as conditions of transport licensing, the liabilities and obligations of concerned bodies (operator, bus driver and passengers), bus specifications, violations and fines.
In addition, it will shed light on the training requirements of mass transit and specialized transport drivers and the conditions that bus drivers for passenger, tourist and pilgrim transport should meet, bus conditions, as well as safety and security instructions and guidelines.
The workshop was organized by the Land Transport Sector of the National Transport Authority under the leadership of Dr. Nazem Bin Taher, Manager of Roads and Land Shipment Division in the presence of several representatives of federal and local agencies, such as the Ministry of Interior, ESMA, Emirates Transport, local transport departments in each emirate, DoT of Abu Dhabi, Dubai RTA, Sharjah Transport, RAK Transport Authority, the Departments of Economic Development in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, Chambers of Commerce and Industry Union, Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, concerned pilgrimage bodies, the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, various tourism agencies in the UAE and Emirates Driving School.
