NTA Board Resolution No. 7 of 2013

On the External Propulsion Engines of Cruise Boats, dated 11.03.2013

Article (1)

The grace period of licensing the installation and registration of Two Stroke Engines is extended up to 31.12.2013.

Article (2)

A period of time is given to the owners of registered vessels or those previously licensed with vessels with Two Stroke Engines to use such engines up to 31.12.2016, provided the owner or licensee may not change these engines during this period of time.

Article (3)

As of 01.01.2014, no ship with an external propulsion engine that is incompliant with the specifications approved by Emirates Authority for Standardization & Metrology (ESMA) will be registered or licensed.

The National Marine Casualty Investigations Committee has held its first meeting on Wednesday, 10th April 2013 at Beach Rotana Hotel, in Abu Dhabi under the chairmanship of HE Salem Ali Al Zaabi, Deputy Director General of NTA and Chairman of the Committee. The attendance included all the 29 members of the Committee from 17 ministries and local / federal governmental departments in addition to the NTA members of the Committee.
